Everyone tried to keep them away from each-other, but they still found each-other.

Prologue:

It was a haze, a blur at best. She knew she couldn't keep her kit. 'Felicity.' The she-cat mewed softly. 'I hope to meet you again.' She said, placing the grey she-kit down gently. Felicity's cerulian eyes looked up at her mother. Overcomed with guilt, the she-cat cried out 'I'm sorry, my kit.' She said, running behind a tree.

'Mama!' Felicity mewed, looking for the she-cat. 'Mama! Mama?' She said, more worried. From a distance, there were three tom-cat apprentices outside the camp.  They gasped when they spotted Felicity. 'We should bring them to camp!' An oak colored tom-cat mewed. 'We shouldn't! She's a rouge!' A white colored tom-cat with specks of gold said. 'She's a kit-loner, not a rouge, Dreampaw!'The oak colored tom retorted. Before Dreampaw could say another word, the oak colored tom picked up Felictiy and carried her to their camp. The mother followed them in the shadows, to make sure no harm would be caused to her kit.

Two cats who she assumed to be the leaders looked at Felicity, as the three apprentices told them how they found her. After a few seconds, the two leaders stood up. 'Due to this new discovery, and after listening to the story, we shall name this kit Echokit!' They announced while Echokit just looked confused and worried. The she-cat smiled, her child was okay. She then ran away, the shadows masking her pelt.

She went back to her clan which was far off the territory. A silver tom approached her. 'Finally got rid of that brat, eh, Coal?' He asked, a grin on his face. 'Now is not the time, Asida.' Coal growled at Asida. 'Aww, am I bothering you?' He teased. 'I hate you.' The ebony she-cat growled. 'Welcome to Fernclan, where we all hate each-other.' He smirked. 'Nice to have you back.'

Chapter 1:

Echokit woke up, it was a normal day, an anxious day, a friendly day. The she-cat yawned, stretching her paws. She still wondered where her mom was, but, finding out who she was wasn't much of a priority anymore. Instead, she was more focused on making friends with others and trying to be more happy and less stubborn.

She ignored the other kits in the nursery, not really ever finding much interest in cats the same age as her, and walked down to the apprentices den. Only seeing two apprentices awake, Dreampaw and Inkpaw. Echokit despised Dreampaw, and Dreampaw despised her aswell, the feeling was neutral between them. Inkpaw, on the other hand was nice to Echokit and made her feel accepted, which she didn't feel much, since she was born a loner. Dreampaw narrowed his eyes 'Get out.' The tom growled, his tail twitching with annoyance. 'Dreampaw, leave her alone!' Inkpaw argued with him. Echokit only stood there anxiously, watching them. Inkpaw would thurn back to Echokit, noticing the nervous look on her face. 'Oh, sorry!' The tom said apologetically. 'I-it's fine..' She reassured him somewhat nervously. Inkpaw nodded, smiling down at her. She felt happy there, near Inkpaw, near the apprentice she loved.

The she-cat snapped back into attention as another cat came over. 'What are you two doing?' It was Shortpaw, a blind apprentice. Although she was blind, she was still quite salty. 'Oh, uh, hi Shortpaw!' Echokit greeted her with a smile even though she couldn't see the smile. 'Why are you in the apprentice den, Echokit? Shouldn't you be in the nursery?' Shortpaw asked her. 'Well, I just want to spend time with apprentices! I'm becoming one tomorrow after-all!' Echokit answered, she couldn't help but purr at the thought of becoming an apprentice. 'Well, you should still get a good night's sleep and say goodbye to all of your kit friend!' Shortpaw insisted, picking Echokit up by her scruff. Echokit wanted to protest, but, knew she was right, so, she just let her carry her. As she was set down in the nursery, Shortpaw then whispered something Echokit couldn't believe to her. 'I'll be leaving tonight to start my own clan, it'll be called Ancestorclan. I'll still try to visit you though. Please don't forget me, Echokit, grow strong and keep me in your heart.' She whispered to her. Echokit swung her head around 'But-why? I don't want you to leave!' Echokit shouted, louder than she had hoped. 'Well, it's just because I don't just want to be forgotten like normal warriors, you can understand that, right Echokit?' Shortpaw smiled down at her. Echokit looked up at her confused. Normal warriors? What did she mean by that?

'What do you mean, Shortpaw?' She asked, her eyes filled with concern and fear. 'I just don't want to be forgotten, that's all I meant by that!' Shortpaw stated after realizing she worded that wrong. 'Oh..' Echokit said, looking down at her paws. 'It isn't your fault, you know that, right?' Shortpaw checked in. 'Yeah, I know.' The grey she-cat replied, half-lying. She didn't think it was her fault, but, thought it was centered around her, disappearing the night before Echokit becomes a warrior? Why did it have to be then? 'Great!' Shortpaw purred. 'I hope to meet you again!' She touched noses with Echokit before walking out of the nursery.

Echokit tried to lay down, but, she knew sleep was far away from her. The grey she-cat just layed there when Inkpaw ran in. 'Shortpaw's leaving!' The oak colored tabby shouted. Echokit kept laying down, not knowing what to say, she knew it would happen, but, why did Inkpaw have to go in and remind her of it? Echokit finally managed to nod. 'I know. She told me.' The grey she-cat informed Inkpaw. 'Oh, well, if you want to say goodbye to her, come with me, she's allowing us to say our final goodbyes to her.' Inkpaw said, waiting for Echokit to get up and follow him, in which she did, following him to the camp entrance. As she arrived, she stated to Shortpaw. 'I'll miss you, Shortpaw.' She said, leaning her head onto Shortpaw's shoulder.  Shortpaw purred 'I won't forget you, Echokit.' She told the grey soon-to-be-apprentice. After everyone else said their goodbyes, Foxstar came over. 'May Starclan light your path, Shortpaw, or, should I call you Shortstar now?' She said, a slight grin on her face. 'Thank you, Foxstar.' Shortpaw smiled, glancing at the camp, everyone was there to say goodbye to her. 'Thank you for being amazing clan members to me.' She smiled at them all before exiting the camp.
